Abstract

The objective of the present work was to evaluate the yield of roquette plants grown in low tunnels made of nonwowen fabric. The experiment was carried out from March to April of 2004, in the vegetable garden of the Plant Science Department of the College of Agriculture of Mossoró (RN), Brazil. A randomized complete block design was used with three treatments and four replications. The treatments consisted of: . low tunnel (with 50 cm of height) of a white nonwowen fabric with a gramature of 40 g/m2; 2. low tunnel (with 50 cm of height) of white nonwowen fabric with a gramature of 3 g/m2, and 3. control (the plants grew with no coverage). The low tunnel of nonwowen with 40 g/m2 was the best for plant dry and fresh matter and yield. No significant differences were observed among treatments for plant height.Additional keywords: Eruca sativa L.; soil coverage; yield.
