Abstract

The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of boron and calcium foliar application to common bean plants cultivated during the dry season (harvest from May to July) in a no tillage system. The treatments consisted of boron (as boric acid) foliar application at the rates of 0, 5, 30, and 60 g ha-⊃, with and without calcium chloride application (500 g ha-⊃). Boron and calcium did not change either yield components or yield. On the other hand, seed vigor increased with boron and calcium foliar application.Additional keywords: Phaseolus vulgaris; seed physiological quality; nutrient content; grain yield.
