Abstract

The objective of this work was the evaluation of twenty eight soybean genotypes as to adaptability and stability in Jaboticabal, state of São Paulo, Brazil. The performance of the cultivars, evaluated in terms of grain yield, was determined according to the procedures indicated by WRICKE (965) and by EBERHART & RUSSEL (966). The results indicated the interaction Genotype x Environment. As to ecovalence, the most stable genotypes were JB94-043-2, JB95-50027-, JB94-020, JB95-20028, and JB95-00029. In addition to those, JB95-5002-, JB94-043-, JB94-043-2, JB94-0306-, JB95- 50027–, JB95-50027-2, JB95-90023-, JB95-90023–2, JB95-4002, JB95-0035, JB95-30025 and JB93-54323 were also found to be well adapted to the region under investigation. The simple linear regression method indicated good adaptability of all the genotypes with the exception of JB93- 54323. Most of the genotypes, with the exception of JB95-5002-, JB95-0027–2, JB95-003-, JB95-90023-, JB95-0035, JB94-020, and JB93-54323, were found to be satisfactorily stable. The results obtained by the tested methodologies were similar, since the correlation between the coefficient of determination (R2) and the parameter of stability was of -0.96.
