The yellow mangosteen (Garcinia xanthochymus Hook. f. ex Anders.) is a fruit tree originated in Asia, which has adapted well to the Brazilian climate. The objective of this work was to evaluate the possibility of the vegetative propagation by grafting of this species. Three methods were evaluated (cleft graft, splice graft and whip and tongue graft) and 2 types of rootstock - those with and those without active photosynthetic leaves. The treatments were arranged according to a 3 x 2 factorial layout (grafting methods x types of rootstock) in a completely random design with four replications and 0 plants per plot. The analysis revealed no statistic difference between any two propagation methods. However, the procedure of leaving two pair of leaves bellow the grafting point showed a negative effect on the grafting success. Additional keywords: exotic fruit, propagation, graftingPublished
