Performance and operating cost of hydraulic forest stump

In areas with a history of eucalyptus cultivation, the remaining harvest stumps become a physical impediment to soil preparation and implementation of a new mechanized activity, requiring logging and cleaning of the area. The objective of the work was to evaluate the operational performance and mechanized cost of blasting by hydraulic blasting implements. The experimental area was cultivated for 20 years with Eucalyptus urograndis, and the implements compared for logging were: hydraulic bucket stump (T1), hydraulic grapple stump (T2), and hydraulic crusher head stump (T3). The stump attachments were coupled to a model NH E215C hydraulic excavator, year 2018, 108.7 kW of engine power, 2.4 m stick and 142 kN of vertical force on the implement. The performance variables evaluated were: operational efficiency (Ef), operational field capacity (Cco) and productivity (stumps/h); and the costs calculated were: operational (CO), hourly (CH) and per extracted stump (Ct). Data for Ef, Bcc and productivity were compared with means by the Tukey test (P≤0.05) and costs compared descriptively. It was concluded that the T3 blaster allows greater Ef, Cco and stump extraction productivity, with lower CO and Ct. Lower CH is possible with T1 blaster.
